Emma Houton is a New York City based vocalist and electronic musician who composes using electronic loops. They draw inspiration from folk songs and the turbulence of daily life, and are interested in pushing the boundaries of the human voice and creating a completely immersive sonic experience.
Their debut album 'The Bath' is out now on Trapped Animal; composed after an ethnographic study into Emma's Irish folk song roots and recorded as part of their senior thesis in electronic music, Emma originally wrote The Bath as a piece for eight voices to be performed live. Due to the COVID pandemic, she ended up recording all eight parts alone in their childhood bedroom, mixing and producing it themselves.
